New Year's Day
Happy New Year’s Day to you and your family. We are excited to share 2025’s program with you. Keep an eye out for all our events. Events are added and updated regularly.
Career Guidance Week
Our Career Guidance Week is a week-long event during which participants can learn more about emotional intelligence, Career Assessments, choosing a career, writing CVs, workplace ethics, managing personal finances, and preparing for the world after school. We have about three guest speakers a day, which makes this a very busy week for our participants.
The information they receive during this week will also prepare them for the Career Guidance Tour later this year, where they will have the opportunity to start applying at various VTCs ( Vocational Training Centres).
Best Game
Best Game is a business Simulation that teaches entrepreneurial skills and explores what good business practice looks like. The details around this event will still be added closer to the time.
Intervention Hike 1
Our first intervention hike for 2025 Kicks off on Friday! This 8-day journey through the Naukluft wilderness is an essential part of our new participant’s journey through this program. We have 8 new participants who will be starting their WTN journey with us, and we are very excited to welcome them into the WTN family!
Intervention Hike 2
This is our second intervention hike for 2025. We will be welcoming another 8 participants to our program and will be joined by four adult facilitators during this excursion into the wild.
Capacity Building Event
Capacity Building Events are an opportunity for participants to learn life skills they otherwise would not have learned. These may include events like basic first aid, community fire safety, emotional and spiritual wellness, dealing with gender-based violence, self-defense, and many more. The theme for this Capacity Building Event will be announced closer to the time, along with the guest speaker.
Intervention Hike 3
Our third intervention hike for 2025 is happening at the Naukluft, and we are welcoming 8 new participants into our program. These participants will be guided by four adult facilitators.
Career Exposure Tour
While our third Intervention Hike is underway, our participants who started with us in 2024 will be going on their Career Exposure Tour. They will be visiting various VTCs (Vocational Training Centres), large companies like NamPort and NamDocks, and for a lot of our participants, this will also be the first time they see the ocean!
Youth Conference
Our annual youth conference is coming up soon! This year's theme will be: What it means to be part of the WTN Family?
How can we support and motivate each other even if we don’t see each other every day?
The agenda for the Youth Conference will start off with a motivational speaker, followed by some very exciting and meaningful activities.
Capacity Building Event-Drug and Alcohol Abuse
One of WTN’s longstanding contacts will be talking about Drug and alcohol abuse, and how to get help. We will also be hearing about suicide prevention. If you’d like to help out on the day, by dishing up food, assisting behind the scenes, or handing out name tags, please contact us by selecting the button below.
